Garden Roles Let The Land Produce

Garden roles God said, "I command the earth to produce all kinds of plants, including fruit trees and grain." And that’s what happened. The earth produced all kinds of vegetation. God looked at what he had done, and it was good. Evening came and then morning—that was the third day. Genesis 1:11-12

Earth as fruitful garden I have provided all kinds of fruit and grain for you to eat. Genesis 1:29 God’s garden The Lord made a garden in a place called Eden, which was in the east, and he put the man there. Genesis 2:8  Dressing the garden The Lord God put the man in the Garden of Eden to take care of it and to look after it. Genesis 2:15 Garden roles Planned pollination If you plant a vineyard, don’t plant any other fruit tree or crop in it. If you do plant something else there, you must bring to the place of worship everything you harvest from the vineyard. Deuteronomy 22:9

Vegetable garden One day, Ahab said, "Naboth, your vineyard is near my palace. Give it to me so I can turn it into a vegetable garden. I’ll give you a better vineyard or pay whatever you want for yours." 1 Kings 21:2 Garden slug Garden roles Let them dry up like snails or be like a child that dies before seeing the sun. Psalm 58:8

Fruits, vegetables You let the earth produce grass for cattle, plants for our food, Psalm 104:14 Gardens, orchards I had flower gardens and orchards full of fruit trees. Ecclesiastes 2:5 Romantic garden My bride, my very own, I come to my garden and enjoy its spices. I eat my honeycomb and honey; I drink my wine and milk. Eat and drink until you are drunk with love. Song of Solomon 5:1

Wastelands become like Eden Though Zion is in ruins, the Lord will bring comfort, and the city will be as lovely as the garden of Eden that he provided. Garden roles Then Zion will celebrate; it will be thankful and sing joyful songs. Isaiah 51:3 Becoming well-watered garden The Lord will always guide you and provide good things to eat when you are in the desert. He will make you healthy. You will be like a garden that has plenty of water or like a stream that never runs dry. Isaiah 58:11

My people will come to Mount Zion and celebrate; their faces will glow because of my blessings. I’ll give them grain, grapes, and olive oil, as well as sheep and cattle. Garden roles Israel will be prosperous and grow like a garden with plenty of water. Jeremiah 31:12 Exceeding garden of God None of the cedar tree sin my garden of Eden were as beautiful as this tree; no tree of any kind had such long branches.  I, the Lord, gave this tree its beauty, and I helped the branches grow strong.

All other trees in Eden wanted to be just like it. King of Egypt, now listen to what I, the Lord God, am saying about that tree: The tree grew so tall that it reached the sky and became very proud and arrogant. So I, the Lord God, will reject the tree and hand it over to a foreign ruler , who will punish it for its wickedness.

Cruel foreigners will chop it down and leave it wherever it falls. Branches and broken limbs will be scattered over the mountains and in the valleys. The people living in the shade of those branches will go somewhere else. Garden roles Birds will then nest on the stump of the fallen tree, and wild animals will trample its branches. Never again will any tree dare to grow as tall as this tree, no matter how much water it has. Every tree must die, just as humans die and go down to the world of the dead.  On the day this tree dies and goes to the world below, I, the Lord God, will command rivers and streams to mourn its death.

Every underground spring of water and every river will stop flowing. Garden roles The  mountains in Lebanon will be covered with darkness as a sign of their sorrow, and all the trees in the forest will wither. This tree will crash to the ground, and I will send it to the world below. Then the nations of the earth will tremble. The trees from Eden and the choice trees from Lebanon are now in the world of the dead, and they will be comforted when this tree falls.

Those people who found protection in its shade will also be sent to the world below, where they will join the dead. King of Egypt, all these things will happen to you and your people! You were like this tree at one time—taller and stronger than anyone on earth.

Garden roles But now you will be chopped down, just as every tree in the garden of Eden must die. You will be sent down to the world of the dead, where you will join the godless and the other victims of violent death. I, the Lord God, have spoken. Ezekiel 31:8-18

Flowers wither, seeds perish Do this because God has given you new birth by his message that lives on forever. The Scriptures say, "Humans wither like grass, and their glory fades like wild flowers. Grass dries up, and flowers fall to the ground. But what the Lord has said will stand forever." Our good news to you is what the Lord has said. 1 Peter 1:23-25
